Each year at the SEMA Auto Show in Las Vegas, Nevada, the vehicles that have the strongest presence are awarded for their popularity among aftermarket manufacturers and customizers. For this reason, it comes as no surprise that the Scion FR-S received the SEMA award for the Sport Compact category. Brand new this year, the FR-S is unlike any other vehicle on the road right now. As a joint creation of Subaru and Toyota’s, the sporty little coupe has unrivaled handling, aggressive styling, and performance that rivals vehicles that cost 3 times as much or more! Among the aftermarket crowd, it is possibly the most sought-after vehicle on the road right now. Driving enthusiasts love the car for its rear-wheel drive setup and excellent balance along with its expressive styling that just begs to be personalized. Because so many vendors chose to modify one of these cars with their own products, there were over 150 FR-S vehicles at the show, making it the “Hottest Sport Compact” there.
Scion is honored the FR-S earned the SEMA Hottest Sport Compact award, which adds the judges’ esteemed endorsement to the thousands of enthusiastic owners who have already taken this sports car to the next level in a few short months. Personalization is a core component of the Scion brand, making the SEMA show a perfect spot to showcase the vast possibilities of the FR-S.

One event that took place at the SEMA Auto Show was the 2012 Scion FR-S Tuner Challenge in which three enthusiasts were given a new FR-S, $15,000 for customization, and three months to create a SEMA Car. In the end, Chris Basselgia and the “Minty FReSh” FR-S build won first prize.
